Gable, (William) Clark
(1 feb. 1901, Cadiz, Ohio, EE.UU.–16 nov. 1960, Hollywood, Cal.).

Actor de cine estadounidense. Debutó en Broadway en 1928 y se trasladó a Hollywood en 1930. Tras un rechazo inicial, la MGM lo contrató. Al año, comenzó a protagonizar películas románticas, y en 1934 se consagró con Sucedió una noche (premio de la Academia). Su irónica virilidad y gracioso encanto atrajo tanto a hombres como a mujeres, por lo que se le llamó "El rey. Entre sus películas de dispar calidad se cuentan Motín a bordo (1935), San Francisco (1936), Saratoga (1937) y la clásica, Lo que el viento se llevó (1939). Después del fallecimiento de Carole Lombard, su tercera esposa, en 1942 se desencantó de la industria del cine y se enroló en las fuerzas armadas, y fue distinguido con la Cruz al vuelo y la Medalla del aire por sus misiones bélicas. Regresó a Hollywood y protagonizó diversas películas como Los vendedores (1947), Mogambo (1953) y Vidas rebeldes (1961).
